my blog experience

Learning to use the blog has been excellent, since, we have known another means of communication, with which we have practiced our writing in English and also, we have known part of the personal life of our classmates and our teacher, and I have realized that we can have many things in common with other people. I must say that this blog experience has been very rewarding from an academic and social point of view. However, doing this experience blog was not easy, there were times when I did not know what to write or where to start, in addition, we must consider that we are in a learning process in English, but in the end, I really liked the challenge. I think that we could also have addressed other topics, such as, for example, I would have liked to tell you about the sports I practice, or the television series that I like, or the trips I have made, among others, and of course to know about their experiences related to these issues. Unfortunately, everything that has a beginni

The human body has different organs that fulfill multiple functions and that help us interact with the environment. Today, I want to talk to you about the liver, an organ that is present in both humans and vertebrate animals. With respect to its anatomical characteristics, the liver has a triangular shape, brown red color, smooth surface and soft consistency. In the human adult it measures on average 26 cm wide, 15 cm high and 8 cm thick at the level of the right lobe, its approximate weight is 1.5 kg and is located in the upper right part of the abdomen, below the diaphragm . It performs unique and vital functions, including the production of bile that is necessary for the digestion of food, the synthesis of plasma proteins, detoxifying function and storage of vitamins and glycogen. In addition, it removes many substances from the blood that may be harmful to the body, transforming them into other harmless ones. This last function is very relevant in my area of study,

Throughout our university career, we have different subjects that contribute less or more depending on our area of interest. Now, one of my favorite subjects is pharmacognosy. The objective of the subject is that we can identify a plant drug, in addition to its active ingredients, pharmacological effects, interactions and adverse effects. For this, the classes are mostly practical, and this is what I like the most. In laboratories we must recognize active principles that certain plants possess through various chemical reactions. This is very interesting, since our grandparents have always used plants that are part of traditional or folk medicine and their pharmacological properties are not always known. In our laboratory, we have excellent teachers and assistants who guide us to do a better job, as well as providing us with the plant and instrumental material to carry out the activities. Gabriela is one of the assistants that I would like to highlight, she is very nice and

An expert on our field

One of the experts in my area of health that I admire is Alexander Fleming. He was born in Scotland in 1881 and was a very famous British scientist because of two great discoveries. He worked as a microbiologist at the St. Mary's Hospital in London in the department of inoculations in the improvement and manufacture of vaccines or injections and serums.  It is important to mention that his discoveries were accidental, the first occurred because mucosities from a sneeze fell into a bacterial culture, where a time later he observed that the bacteria had been destroyed, in this way he discovered in the antimicrobial enzyme lysozyme. His second discovery was thanks to his disorder in the laboratory. He observed the growth of a fungus as a contaminant in a bacterial culture that with the passage of days resulted in bacterial death, with which he discovered the antibiotic penicillin. These discoveries led him to win the Nobel Prize for Medicine in 1945. This scientist is
